Week 67

3-28-16

Happy Late Easter! :)
Last Monday, we went hiking! I will send a bunch of pictures today. We heard that colorado legalized crystal meth, maybe we are just hearing that now because we are kind of.. not involved with the news or anything like that. Thought that was ridiculous though. Also! last Monday, while I was at the thrift store I found a little new testament bible that was made in 1816!! that was super cool. Got it for free, they told me bibles were free. So that was a nice suprise. It looks like what would be something a soldier would carry with them to war.
We went to an inactive members home the 3 kids are members and that is all. One of the kids who isn't a member though, when we walked in told us shes been waiting to get baptized for awhile and how she really wants the holy ghost to stay with her. So that was pretty cool, typically don't just typically tell you "hey I really want to get baptized, what do I need to do?"
Yesterday we ate dinner with the bishop and his wife's family. Turns out I know his wife's family, they were in my old area when I was here before. Someone that we know bought me a blue Nevada flag with the classic "don't tread on me" with the rattle snake. Never seen a Nevada version but its pretty sweet i'll send a picture of that as well.

Week 66

3-21-16

I am staying in Carson City with Elder Teixeira for another transfer! :)
I was happy to hear that I am staying. That is always an exciting thing.
It was pretty funny, at our morning exercises, we normally have.. like 10 missionaries there and then after we say a prayer before we leave. My comp, Tex, knelt down and his knee made a farting noise and I just looked at him and in a serious voice was like "seriously? again man?" hahahahahahahaha he was like "NO!!!! dont do that to me!" it was so funny.
We were walking this past week, saw this lady so went to talk to her and we said hey and then the first thing she said was "hey do you have an extra mormon book? I want to study it" so that was cool. too bad shes english and we had to pass her to the english missionaries. We've given them.. probably 20 referrals in this past week. But thats okay, I would like to stay a spanish missionary :)

Someone threw some cups full of soda at us when we were walking. Too bad that they dont know how to throw accurately! :) missed us by like 5 feet. We had a good laugh about it though.
Someone told me they saw a black version of me at their work. Too bad they didnt take a picture...
Lots of really funny things happened this past week honestly. I have several good friends being transfered to my zone! so that will be pretty cool.

that awkward moment when I forgot to send pictures last week! I will send them todya :)

Week 65

3-14-16

Hi everyone,

Things again are going pretty good. I finished writing my 3rd journal this past week!
I bought something called an Elevation training mask this past week, got a really good deal on it, normally are 80 but got mine for 50. Basically it makes it harder to breath and makes your work out more efficient so thats cool. My companion also bought one, i'll send a picture we took of us wearing them! :)
We met with a member, whose white, and made breakfast tortas for him, He really loved them, he's been wanting to learn how to cook like a Latino . Who better to ask than the Spanish missionaries?! well.. besides an actual Latino hahahahaha.
We found a family of 8 to teach this past week! That was super cool, things are looking up haha. The weathers been pretty crappy. We were going to start doing hiking for our 6 am work outs because the other missionaries who we play sports with don't get to the building until 6:35 (they must be doing their hair because its a 5 minute drive max haha) and then we have to stop at 6:55 supposedly. and So we get like 20 minute work outs its terrible. So we were going to do hiking and for some reason it made sense to me that day light savings would make it even lighter outside in the morning instead of well.. darker like it did. It was a sad morning when it was still pitch black. haha! not a whole lot new with me though.

Week 64

March 7th

Update on me! I went to the chiropractor today. I've been having a lot of back pain which led to leg pain and its been not very fun. I finally decided to go to the chiropractor and that was quite the adventure. He was a little in shock with how bad I was out of place, not just my back though. He said I have an incredible amount of scare tissue in my left shoulder and a lot of scare tissue in general (internal). He said above my ear (my skull) was out of place and he pushed it and that felt super weird. He asked if I have had any major head injuries, which as far as I know I haven't. I think my back was out in a bunch of places, he kept doing things and it would pop really loud and every time he was like wow it just keeps going! I feel a TON better though. a lot less pressure which is nice. He wants me to come in more often.

We were driving and saw this lady crying in her car and so we pulled over and asked if she was okay (the windows were down) and she opened up a ton and said she's been praying for a miracle and some type of guidance so that was cool God put us in her path. But she's English so we had to pass her to the English sister missionaries here.

We talked to this guy outside of a Casino, Spanish guy, he was surprised that 2 white guys were talking Spanish but we gave him a Book of Mormon and he was pretty excited about that, and then we walked into the casino with it in hand ,so we laughed about that.

Our friend Ernesto's younger brother had a daughter a couple months back and we were at his house and Ernesto's mom was holding the baby and she looked at us and said "look at your white uncles!" but in Spanish. It was pretty funny. not a whole lot else to say, but have a great week!

Week 63

2/29/16

2-29-16
Hello all! We had tons of things happen this past week. zone conference was one. We saw a ton of our friends at it which was pretty sweet!

Isabel, someone we just started teaching told us that she gives us an A+ for teaching and she likes that we don't try to push what we teach on her.

Exchanges with Elder Hixson! that went super well, we talked to and saw a whole tonnnnnnnnnnnnn of people. it was pretty great! It was good, just what I needed.

Gama and Belem, some people I taught from my last area and well some of the finest of Nevada, came to visit me! That was pretty awesome we caught up with them.

A missionary that served here but has finished his mission since came to visit us also. The person that brought him is named Costen Colburn who I KNOW! I know his older brother Keifer and met Costen years back at Keifers wedding. Small world haha.

At church, we translated sacrament, taught gospel principals AND priesthood. So that was kind of fun. To teach and do everything. Its been happening more and more lately.

I also found out a lady here, her brother lives in Mount Vernon and is the owner of the Action Pages phone book and is LDS. I've met him before name is David Lindsey. This past week has just been full of little miracles

Week 62

2/22/16

Helloooooooooo!

Hope things are going well for you all.

Lots of funny things this past week. Some people we are teaching, their 8 year old daughter this past week beat up 2 10 year old boys at school . They were bullying her and she had told the principal and they did nothing about it nor did they believe the girl so she took things into her own hands. Kind of sad .

We have been trying a lot to encourage the Spanish members to be examples and share the gospel and whatnot and it really paid off this past week so that was awesome. Several came out with us even.

I was at the church building on Friday waiting for the lesson we had rescheduled to come to the church building. Before he got there, someone walked in the door with a Seattle Seahawks shirt and I was like hey are you from Seattle? He was in his 30s or so, his father who was visiting him here walked in and was like Elder Quinton, I've been looking for you! I was like hmmm that's strange.

Tells me his name is Lonny Townsend, lives in Anacortes and knows my grandparents Dorrel and Gail very well and also knows my parents and some of my aunts and uncles! Small world. He just got called to be the mission president for Mesa, Arizona. He said he saw my name on the wall at the church building back home in Mount Vernon and we just "randomly" ran into each other.

Still lots of good things happened. Busy week that's for sure. The weather was pretty cold for a few days. even snowed.

picture: I saw Pinky! someone I taught when I was here before. We were driving by and saw him outside so stopped to talk.

Week 61

2-15-16

This past week My comp and I both got pretty sick, it was pretty terrible ! We are doing better now though the weather cleared up a bit so that was nice!

Someone started talking about guns that we teach and said they have a rifle or shotgun they weren't sure and I was like "well I could tell you what it is if you like?" For those that don't know I have a love of weapons. So he pulls it out and I just started laughing. It was a pellet gun. and he brought out .22 bullets and BB's and said they were the bullets for it and that someone had given it to him. I had a nice little laugh out of it.

Someone we know got baptized! that was super awesome! :) Also this past week after doing about 15 hours of service, the people we had been helping made us soup. Full of cow stomach. and tendons/ligaments of a cow. It was rather... well... you can imagine hahaha.

I saw tons of my old friends at stake conference this past weekend too! Several asked if they could have us over for dinner haha. Despite the sickness this past week we had lots of success.
