Super
good week! So we are both staying here in Elko, the thing is that we are
getting the 3rd ward (english) taken away from us and we are solo spanish now
WOOOO! :) we've been trying to get president to do that for us since I got here
to Elko. We just have tons of spanish work and not much english work. HOWEVER
we had the coolest lady we found this past week. She went on mormon.org to refer herself because she was having
a hard time in her life. that same day before we even got the referral, the
sister missionaries found her and right before they found her she had been
praying to god for help and a sign for her. So then we met her and she was
awesome. her name is Stacy. She was eating up everything that we were saying
and she wanted to learn everything. She basically asked us to be baptized so
shes getting baptized in a month. It was super cool. She came to church
yesterday. it was great. The sad thing though is shes english so now we will
have to give her to the missionaries that cover the 3rd ward that we just gave
to other missionaries. Oh well though it was awesome still! :)
When I
was on exchanges with one of the elders in my district we had a great day also!
we were walking and this drunk guy waved us down and yelled at us and we didnt
even see him until he yelled at us. and then. his girlfriend who was not drunk
proceeded to tell us how shes an inactive member of the church and how she
really wants to come back to church and just opened up a ton and we also had 2
other experiences like that that SAME DAY! it was legit.
This
past week I was thinking a lot about the experience that joseph smith had (the
first vision) and why it would happen to a young man instead of an adult. I
kind of arrived at the conclusion that when we are younger we are more
"shapeable" because we arent "set in our ways" and whatnot
and that it would make WAY more sense for it to happen that way. It was
interesting.
The
baptism went really well we had about 60 people in attendance. These 2 kids are
actually super solid. Their aunt who is catholic was yelling at them a couple
weeks ago and saying their grandpa (who is one of our investigators) has brain
washed the kids and thats why they got baptized and the Kids basically just
told the aunt thats not true and that they dont like the catholic church and
they dont believe that it teaches the right things and how they really like our
church etc etc. There was a lot more they said to their aunt it was pretty cool
to see 10 year old kids defending the church.
