Week 69

April 11,2016

HI All,

We were asked to give a training to like 25 missionaries this past week. That went really well. I was asked to give another one for tomorrow so we will see how that goes.
It's been sad to see people in our area just go back to their "old ways" and then they just completely change. Their attitude and everything. Someone we've invested a lot of time into was doing SUPER good. and then he had 2 extended family members die so he started drinking again. and then we saw him this past week and he was... He just looked so different. He was all angry and whatnot just like he was when we started teaching him. It is sad.
We made a trip to Les Schwab this past week. were there for 4 hours. Something felt wrong so I called the "car fleet guy" and he said take it in. I got 4 new tires. and a new ball joint on one of the times and a couple other things.
We were asked to help someone move a chicken coop. They didn't tell us how big it was or anything like that. So we get there. There is us and 2 other people. I found out later one got electrocuted and is just finally able to start working again. the other was the one who wanted help. The coop was about 12ft long. 5 feet wide. and 600 pounds. for 4 people to carry. That's not even the bad part. When they expected us to be able to lift it 6 feet into the air and over a fence. That was... ridiculous haha! The guy who was electrocuted was having a lot of trouble getting it up, so the guy who was next to me runs over to help him leaving me. by myself. luckily its resting on the top of the fence for a second. Once it gets over the half way mark its mostly all on me because the guy on my side went to the other side. My shoulder is about to give out and i'm just about to say that because. well.. it was super heavy. and then some random guy came running over, he saw us. So that was a huge miracle. I didn't die hahaha!

overall things went pretty good this week.

Week 68

Hi Everyone!!

April fools and general conference in the same week! If you had a favorite talk from conference let me know!
We had a random snow day last week. Weve been walking a ton lately. It's been alright. Haven't had too much success yet. We did have some really good lessons though with a couple people. With Maria (one of the many we teach hahaha), shes been reading the scriptures every single day. We talked about what makes our church different than other churches. For those of you that don't know the major differences, they are 1) we believe that the foundation of prophet and apostles that Jesus Christ established has been restored to the earth meaning that the whole church (well, the whole world as they are prophet and apostles for the whole world) is directly guided by God through something called revelation. The apostle Paul said that this foundation would need to always be on the earth until we arrive at a unity of faith (which we obviously do not have yet). 2) We believe that priesthood authority restored to the earth through the prophet Joseph Smith which is the authority Jesus Christ had and gave to his apostles to teach, baptize, heal, act in the name of god, etc. Then of course 3) the Book of Mormon which is another testament of Jesus Christ. If you have any questions just let me know :)
My companion got super sick this past week so we had to stay home a day or so.
Funny story for the week. We were talking to this guy and he was asking us if its okay for him to have a couple girlfriends/wives. We told him no, he said he did. My companion called him a "Don Juan" which basically the name of those types of guys in the spanish soap operas (telenovelas) and turns out, that was seriously his name, we thought it was hilairous. He had just been kidding about the women though he's been married to the same woman for 56 years.
I went on exchanges with a new missionary named elder Coronado. That guy is pretty cool we had a good time and were able to see tons of people that I used to teach. One of the inactive members I was teaching we had dinner with her and her husband and had been working with her to go to the temple and get her temple recommend and She told me she has her interview with the stake president!!!! :) took like a year. but shes almost there so that was super cool.
There's more I could say but time always seems to go quick. Have a good week! :)

Week 67

3-28-16

Happy Late Easter! :)
Last Monday, we went hiking! I will send a bunch of pictures today. We heard that colorado legalized crystal meth, maybe we are just hearing that now because we are kind of.. not involved with the news or anything like that. Thought that was ridiculous though. Also! last Monday, while I was at the thrift store I found a little new testament bible that was made in 1816!! that was super cool. Got it for free, they told me bibles were free. So that was a nice suprise. It looks like what would be something a soldier would carry with them to war.
We went to an inactive members home the 3 kids are members and that is all. One of the kids who isn't a member though, when we walked in told us shes been waiting to get baptized for awhile and how she really wants the holy ghost to stay with her. So that was pretty cool, typically don't just typically tell you "hey I really want to get baptized, what do I need to do?"
Yesterday we ate dinner with the bishop and his wife's family. Turns out I know his wife's family, they were in my old area when I was here before. Someone that we know bought me a blue Nevada flag with the classic "don't tread on me" with the rattle snake. Never seen a Nevada version but its pretty sweet i'll send a picture of that as well.

Week 66

3-21-16

I am staying in Carson City with Elder Teixeira for another transfer! :)
I was happy to hear that I am staying. That is always an exciting thing.
It was pretty funny, at our morning exercises, we normally have.. like 10 missionaries there and then after we say a prayer before we leave. My comp, Tex, knelt down and his knee made a farting noise and I just looked at him and in a serious voice was like "seriously? again man?" hahahahahahahaha he was like "NO!!!! dont do that to me!" it was so funny.
We were walking this past week, saw this lady so went to talk to her and we said hey and then the first thing she said was "hey do you have an extra mormon book? I want to study it" so that was cool. too bad shes english and we had to pass her to the english missionaries. We've given them.. probably 20 referrals in this past week. But thats okay, I would like to stay a spanish missionary :)

Someone threw some cups full of soda at us when we were walking. Too bad that they dont know how to throw accurately! :) missed us by like 5 feet. We had a good laugh about it though.
Someone told me they saw a black version of me at their work. Too bad they didnt take a picture...
Lots of really funny things happened this past week honestly. I have several good friends being transfered to my zone! so that will be pretty cool.

that awkward moment when I forgot to send pictures last week! I will send them todya :)

Week 65

3-14-16

Hi everyone,

Things again are going pretty good. I finished writing my 3rd journal this past week!
I bought something called an Elevation training mask this past week, got a really good deal on it, normally are 80 but got mine for 50. Basically it makes it harder to breath and makes your work out more efficient so thats cool. My companion also bought one, i'll send a picture we took of us wearing them! :)
We met with a member, whose white, and made breakfast tortas for him, He really loved them, he's been wanting to learn how to cook like a Latino . Who better to ask than the Spanish missionaries?! well.. besides an actual Latino hahahahaha.
We found a family of 8 to teach this past week! That was super cool, things are looking up haha. The weathers been pretty crappy. We were going to start doing hiking for our 6 am work outs because the other missionaries who we play sports with don't get to the building until 6:35 (they must be doing their hair because its a 5 minute drive max haha) and then we have to stop at 6:55 supposedly. and So we get like 20 minute work outs its terrible. So we were going to do hiking and for some reason it made sense to me that day light savings would make it even lighter outside in the morning instead of well.. darker like it did. It was a sad morning when it was still pitch black. haha! not a whole lot new with me though.
